County Executive David Morgan, together with Stanley Bean, Mobility Manager of SCATS, and Jill Murks, SCATS Director for Lawrence, Wayne, and Giles County, recently signed a proclamation designating July 16, 2024, as RURAL TRANSIT DAY.
South Central Area Transit Service (SCATS) is an affordable, reliable, and essential public service. Its goal is to enhance public transit access, reduce transportation disparities, improve air quality, and increase employment opportunities, all of which are vital to support a sustainable economy and to strengthen social determinants of health.
The citizens of Lawrence County, Tennessee can use “Rural Transit Day” to support public transportation efforts and the expansion of these services to build more healthy, resilient, and thriving communities.
