Lawrence County has been awarded a $125,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation to help build our first permanent convenience center!
It will be built on land donated by the City of Loretto at its wastewater treatment property off Busby Road. Residents will be able to take household garbage and all recyclables there rather than the transfer station facility in Lawrenceburg.
Pictured accepting the award at the Tennessee Sustainability Conference are Lawrenceburg/Lawrence County Solid Waste Assistant Director Zac Fralix and Director Gary Wayne Hyde. At the same event, Hyde was recognized as the 2024 Top Leader in recycling, honoring his many years of work in recycling and his continued dedication to its success in Lawrence County.
Until permanent convenience centers are built, residents can continue to bring garbage and recyclables to the following locations every week, from 6 to 10 a.m.:
Tuesdays: Loretto Wastewater Treatment Plant, 60 Busby Road
Wednesdays: West End Community Club/Fire Hall, 5520 Waynesboro Highway
Thursdays: Summertown Fire Hall, 140 Highway 20, Summertown
Fridays: New Prospect Community Center, 4430 Pulaski Highway, Lawrenceburg
