During yesterday’s meeting, the Lawrence County Commission approved several key resolutions supporting local services and community projects:

✅ SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT FOOD SERVICES – The Commission approved transitioning jail food service operations in-house when the current contract ends, allowing the department to manage food and supply purchases directly.
 
✅ INMATE DENTAL CARE – A new contract for mobile dental services at the Lawrence County Jail was approved.
✅ SOUTHERN TENNESSEE HIGHER EDUCATION CENTER – The Commission authorized County Executive David Morgan to negotiate the sale of the Higher Education Center to Columbia State Community College, strengthening local higher education opportunities.
 
✅ COURTHOUSE REHABILITATION GRANT – Approval was given to apply for a Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Historic Development Grant to support much-needed rehabilitation work on our historic Lawrence County Courthouse.
