Last week the Lawrence County Board of County Commissioners proudly recognized the Lawrence County High School Wildcats Baseball Team for an extraordinary 2026 season and a historic achievement for Lawrence County athletics.
The Wildcats finished the season with an impressive 30-10 overall record, capturing both the District 12-AAA Regular Season and Tournament Championships, followed by the Region 6-AAA Regular Season and Tournament Championships and the Class 3A Sectional Championship.
Their remarkable postseason run earned the Wildcats a place in the TSSAA Class 3A State Baseball Tournament, marking the first state tournament appearance by a Lawrence County High School baseball team in 49 years.
This historic season reflects the dedication, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship displayed by these student-athletes and their coaches throughout the year. Their accomplishments have brought great pride to their families, Lawrence County High School, the Lawrence County School System, and the entire Lawrence County community.
